Philemon Study & Trellis and the Vine

Greetings RGCSD Family,

I wanted to send out this short reminder for two items.

Friday (02/18/11): Remember we are navigating our way through the
letter of Paul to Philemon. Last week we made quite a bit of
observations about the text and this week we will begin the process of
interpreting the authorial intent of the letter. I would suggest you
bring study bibles. The notes on the bottom and the cross-references
will help. It’s hard work but the Lord will reward those through the
faithful study of His Word.

Second, Saturday (02/19/11) is our last membership class together. We
will be devoting the bulk of our time to discussing the Trellis and the
Vine. I want to encourage you all to finish the book and be active in
your participation in the discussion and sharing. Additionally, as per
membership guidelines, you have 4 papers due. Now would be the time to
get them done. If you haven’t finished them by Saturday, now would
also be the time to ask for “grace” and see if punishment or grace is
dispensed.

I will continue to pray for you all and your time of reading and
writing that it would be an immense blessing onto your soul and
spiritual life. May God receive all the glory and praise!

Grace and peace to you from God the Father.

God Bless,
Pastor Chris

Sunday Morning Preparation Feb. 20, 2011

Dear RGCSD Family,
In response to the little pamphlet Listen Up! A Practical Guide to
Listening to Sermons
, I wanted to encourage you to prepare for Sunday
service. Here are a few suggestions for you and your family to prepare
for Sunday morning worship.

1) Read Psalm 24. This is our Morning Scripture Reading
2) Read Philippians 2:1-4. This is our Sunday morning text.
3) Read Philippians 1. Review the context and keep on being familiar
with the section.
4) Continue to pray for the ill in our congregation. A cold/flu is
going through our small congregation. Keep praying!

I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday!

Grace and Peace to you from God our Father,
Pastor Chris

Feb 14-20: Preparations

We have a lot going on this week for Redeemer’s Grace. Here is a helpful checklist for things to read and do in preparation for this week’s events.

1. Answer prework questions Gravity and Gladness Handbook pp84-108 (Lessons 7 and 8) for Wednesday, February 16th’s worship seminar.

2. Read the book of Philemon for Friday Night Flock (February 18th) groups.

3a. Finish reading The Trellis and the Vine for our last membership class, Saturday, February 19th. We will be discussing our favorite points from this book and how we can apply some of the concepts to Redeemer’s Grace.

3b. Finish your membership essays to turn in this Saturday, February 19th.

4. Read Philippians (especially starting at chapter 2) in preparation for this Sunday’s sermon.

We here at RGC encourage you to prepare for the weekly events we offer. The enrichment that comes from a simple 15 minute preparation is incredibly useful.

Membership Recordings

Missed membership? Need to review from the last time? No worries, we got you covered (except for week #3 but you can review the church bylaws and church covenant for that session). Check out our membership page for recordings of our classes.
