Heads Up: New Location for RGC

Please keep in mind that starting this Sunday, February 6, 2011, we will be meeting at our new facility: First Baptist Clairemont Mesa Church. 3219 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. San Diego, CA 92117.

Sunday Morning Preparation

In response to the little pamphlet Listen Up! A Practical Guide to
Listening to Sermons
, I wanted to encourage you to prepare for this Sunday’s
service (February 6, 2011, remember we are meeting at our Clairemont Mesa location now and not in Encinitas). Here are a few suggestions for you and your family to prepare
for Sunday morning worship.

1) Read Psalm 22. This is our Morning Scripture Reading
2) Read Philippians 1:18b-26. This is our Sunday morning text.
3) Read Philippians 1. Review the context and keep on being familiar
with the section.

I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday!

Gravity and Gladness: A Study on Corporate Worship

John Piper’s ministry at Desiring God has put on a small group study about Biblical corporate worship and put it in a very well-done DVD format. In the series of videos that are included, Piper outlines crucial Biblical truths about worship in a church and how to practically mold yourself (as part of the congregation) to view corporate worship in a God-honoring way.
Watch the Gravity and Gladness Series

I invite everyone in the church to attend the screenings of these sessions. If you plan on attending, please download and print out the study guide that goes along with it. I understand that not everyone will have the time to do the pre-work that comes with each session but from experience, I know that it provides a far more fruitful time when watching this DVD with fellow believers. The first session will be this Wednesday, January 26, 2011 starting at 7P at my house. Please contact worship@rgcsd.com to RSVP and get directions. Please check our events listing for subsequent screenings and their locations.

As a church we come together every Friday and Sunday to study the Word and sing songs together as a body. As a worship leader, I hope that we would come to a better understanding of why we do this together and find joy in that.

Sunday Morning Preparation

In response to the little pamphlet “Listen Up! A Practical Guide to Listening to Sermons” that we handed out for membership class, I wanted to encourage you to prepare for this Sunday morning’s (Jan 23, 2011) worship. Here are a few suggestions for what you and your family can do.

1) Read Philippians 1:9-11. This is our Sunday text.
2) Read Psalm 20. This is our morning Scripture reading.
3) Read Philippians 1 to review and to know the overall context.

I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday!

Memorizing the Book of Philippians

When we began our study in Philippians a few weeks ago, Pastor Chris challenged us to begin memorizing the entire book of Philippians together. Some may have already started, but we would like to invite everyone to join in. The link below is a PDF file outlining a weekly plan for memorizing as well as some benefits and tips to memorizing a whole book. Even though this is a big challenge, it is a great way to actively practice hiding God’s Word in our hearts and to meditate on what we have been learning through Sunday sermons. The memorization plan is formatted in order to be cut out and put in a small Moleskine notebook (like this) but you should practice whatever memorization strategy works best for you! It’s not too late to start!
